WEEKLY PLAY: The Women’s 9-Hole Section has reserved playing times on Thursday mornings, except for occasional conflicts when our play is rescheduled to Wednesday or cancelled (Calendar.)
No sign ups for tee times (unless there is a special event described below.) Players simply check-in at the golf shop (opens 6:30 am) and then tee-off in threesomes at number 10, on a first-arrived, first-off basis, adjusting to not to leave out any “singles.” All players must tee off before 8:15 during Daylight Savings Time or before 8:30 during winter months.
Pace of play must be maintained at all times. Ready golf is encouraged. To speed up play, allow waiting groups to play through if there is an open hole ahead. Make new members feel welcome and help them get acquainted. Have fun!
In tournament play, every stroke (including wiffs and double hits) must be counted. No adjusted scores (ESC) are allowed; they are for handicapping only. USGA rules apply for regular and tournament play, except where modified by local rules. Winter rules are in effect only when declared.
MONTHLY TOURNAMENTS: Usually held the first Thursday of most months. The format varies, determined by the hostess and communicated via email. Sign ups are helpful to gage refreshment quantities.
TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS (TOC): 2023 play dates. Dates TBD.
MIXERS: For 9-Hole members and your partner/ friend of choice. Mixers are played on the front nine monthly (or all 18 holes if you wish), usually the second Sunday. It's fun to gather for some socializing after play. Sign ups are required.
HOME EXCHANGES: Home Exchanges provide three different opportunities for members to play with players from other clubs. Two events are with the the 6 local WHNGA Golf Clubs in our district. One event is for a different local club yearly (TBD)
GUEST DAYS: One, two or three Thursdays a year when you may invite a guest to play. The contest is for low putts only, so you may invite someone without an established handicap. Nine-Hole Section members and guests pay green fees according to their golf course constituent status. Sign ups are required.
INVITATIONAL: [None at Stanford for 2023] This is a one-day guest tournament that includes prizes and a luncheon. A fee is charged for members and guests, who must have an established handicap. Sign ups are required.
OPEN DAY at STANFORD: Stanford hosts a WNHGA Open every 5th year. None at Stanford for 2023. Everyone is expected to pitch in and help to host the tournament (we do not play.) Uniforms and name tags are worn.
