Subject: Rule News
There have been several new rules proposed for golf. Rule #1. If you accidentally move your ball or ball marker on the putting green, there is no penalty. Just put it back. Currently it is a one stroke penalty. Rule #2 You can repair almost any damage on the putting green. You cannot repair natural imperfections. Currently, you can only repair ball marks or old hole plugs. Rule #3 You can leave the unattended flagstick in when your ball is on the putting green and there is no penalty if your ball strikes it. Currently there is a two stroke penalty if you strike the flagstick with a stroke from the putting green.
These are only the new rules for the putting green. I will list other proposed new rules at a later time. These rules are only proposed and will probably not go into use until 2018 or 2019. One rules which is now in effect: Once your ball is in the cup it is “dead” and therefore can be left in the hole while others putt without any penalty.
